Call for Application for FY2023 Service Course (1st Stage)

We call for application for the FY2023 Service Course in the following schedule. Please note that we may ask you to adjust the amount of resources that you request depending on the situation since each course has its limitation in available computing resources. We appreciate for your understanding and cooperation.

Please refer to the "System Specification" for an overview of the system.

Courses to be Opened and Application Periods

We call for applications for the courses listed in the table below. Please refer to the supplementary notes before applying.

Supplementary Notes

• Since the computing resources will likely be insufficient until Camphor3 (System A) starts operation, the group courses offered at this time are limited to forth-priority (type B0/C0/G0 ). We are likely to ask you to reduce the number of nodes applied for until Camphor3 starts operation. We will adjust the resources based on the number of nodes used in the previous year. The Camphor3 is scheduled to start operation officially around October, however we will start trial operation when it is ready after August.
• At the time of the call for application of the Camphor3, we will accept application of other than forth-priority courses for Laurel3/Cinnamon3/Gardenia and adjust the resources when application resources are reduced, the period of use for this call of 1st stage is from May to the end of September. If you have no problem with a forth-priority group course throughout the year, we will accept your application until the end of the fiscal year. Please contact us.
• Please note that the service period will be shorter in April due to the construction work of the cooling system. If the construction work goes smoothly, computing resources to be provided from May will be provided in advance from late April (Usage fees for April is not required).
• Calls for applications for the use from October are scheduled around July.

Usage Fees

The usage fee is required according to the service courses to use the supercomputer systems. Please refer to Regulations for Usage Fees of Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies (ACCMS), Kyoto University for details.

Application Methods

For those who have already applied for 運営交付金 or 校費等 as a budget item of FY2023.

Please apply via User Portal or submit the "Service Course Application Form" online or send it to Supercomputer Services of ICT Support Center.

Applicable Budget Items

• 国立大学法人京都大学経費(研究経費,教育経費,一般管理費等の教育研究事業費)
• 大学運営交付金(国立大学運営交付金,公立学校経費,私立学校経費)

* If the budget item is defined to be available in the next fiscal year, it is possible to apply for the service course for the next fiscal year with the budget item already applied for in the current fiscal year.

For those who have already applied for 競争的資金 or 受託研究費 such as 科学研究費 of FY2023.

Please refer to Changing the Registration of Budget/Payment Item and submit the "Application Form of Large-Scale Computer Systems" and the "Service Course Application Form" with an applicable budget item online or send them to Supercomputer Services of ICT Support Center .

For those who newly apply for the use of our supercomputer systems from FY2023.

Please refer to Application Procedures, submit both the "Application Form of Large-Scale Computer Systems" and the "Service Course Application Form" online or send them to Supercomputer Services of ICT Support Center.

*For the application by non-residents (including international students those living in Japan for less than six months) or persons who fall under a specific category, please refer to "Rules for Use of Supercomputers for Foreign Nationals and Japanese Nationals Residing Overseas".
