The University issues university-wide accounts (SPS-ID or ECS-ID) as accounts (IDs) to identify and prove individuals on Kyoto University's information services. The University also issues IC cards (authentication IC cards, IC student ID cards and facility user ID cards) as a physical and electronic means of identification and qualification within the University.

Accounts for Students and Part-time Lecturer, etc. (ECS-ID)

The ID contains alphabetic and numeric characters and is issued to all students of the University. It is also issued to teaching staff who are not issued an SPS-ID, such as part-time lecturers, JSPS Postdoctoral Fellows and emeritus professors.
Accounts for Faculty and Staff (SPS-ID)

An ID containing the alphabetical and numerical combination of first name and surname, issued to all staff and faculty members of the University.
IC Cards

It is a contactless IC card with a built-in IC chip that can communicate simply by holding it over a card reader. It can be used to enter and leave buildings such as libraries and as a Kyoto University Co-operative Union card.
Multi-Factor Authentication

When using your university account (ECS-ID/SPS-ID) to log in to important services, multi-factor authentication is required, which uses a second factor in addition to your password. The University's multi-factor authentication requires the installation of a specific application or the setting of a notification email address in order to use the second factor.
Client Certification

Client certificates issued by the UPKI Digital Certificate Issuance Service of the National Institute of Informatics (NII) can be obtained.
Integrated Authentication System and Campus Account Information

If you want to be able to log in to a newly designed information service using your university-wide account (SPS-ID or ECS-ID), you must submit an 'Application for connection to the integrated authentication system' and obtain approval from the committee in charge. If you wish to obtain information linked to a university-wide account in one go, you must submit a 'Request to obtain university-wide account information' and obtain approval.
