I don't know if I am eligible for a Microsoft 365 account provided by Kyoto University.

The university provides accounts to all individuals who hold an SPS-ID or ECS-ID.
However, for users other than students, eligibility for the Microsoft 365 A3 license (which allows installing and using Office on a PC) is, in principle, limited to those who have an employment relationship with the university.
Non-student users holding an ECS-ID (such as part-time lecturers, Professors Emeritus, etc.) are considered not to have an employment relationship with the university. Therefore, they are not eligible for the A3 license and will be provided with the A1 license (which allows using Office on the web only) instead.
Please note that since October 2024, the university COOP has started selling term licenses for Microsoft 365.
By purchasing this license, those who do not hold an A3 license can use it during the contracted period.
For more details regarding this, please contact the COOP.
