When I launch Office on Microsoft 365 for Mac and try to sign in, the CO-OP account (the previous account) is displayed, and I cannot sign in with my university account.

If you encounter any error when signing in or activating the license on Office for Mac, it can most likely be resolved by running the "License Removal Tool" available at the URL below:

However, there are cases where even after running the "License Removal Tool," the license information is not reset, and when attempting to sign in, the CO-OP account name is persistently displayed, preventing users from signing in with their university account.

In this situation, there have been successful cases of signing in by opening Word (using Word as an example), navigating to "Word" in the top-left corner of the screen > "About Microsoft Word" > "More Info..." > "Update License". This will open the account entry screen, where you can enter your university account credentials to proceed.

Although we cannot guarantee that this method will always work, we recommend trying these steps if you are experiencing the same issue.
