If you have previously signed in with a different account, attempting to sign in to an Office app with another account may result in an error due to remaining license information from the previous account.
In such cases, you can reset the activation state by following the steps below.
You may also try this procedure if you encounter errors when using Office apps that prevent you from signing in properly.
1. Launch any Office app and sign out (skip this step if you cannot sign out).
2. Access the following URL:
https://learn.microsoft.com/ja-jp/office/troubleshoot/activation/reset-office-365-proplus-activation-state
3. Under “Method: Automate the cleanup process by using a script,” download “OLicenseCleanup.zip” listed in step 1.
4. Right-click “OLicenseCleanup.zip” and click “Extract All” to unzip the file.
5. In the extracted folder, locate the file named “OLicenseCleanup.vbs” and double-click it to run it.
After a short time, a window will briefly appear and disappear about four times. This process resets the activation state.
6. Launch any Office app.
7. Sign in with your Kyoto University Microsoft 365 account and check whether you can use the app.
*The above procedure is for Windows. For Mac, please try the license removal tool at the following URL:
