Accounts for Students and Part-time Lecturer, etc. (ECS-ID)

Designed for StudentsFacultyStaff

The ID contains alphabetic and numeric characters and is issued to students of the University. It is also issued to teaching staff who are not issued SPS-IDs, such as part-time lecturers, JSPS Postdoctoral Fellows and emeritus professors.

Features

It is widely used in the University's information environment and IT services, including

  • KUMOI (student email).
  • Wi-Fi (KUINS-Air)
  • Common portal for all students* Only students can use it.

News

For those who will become part-time lecturers from April 2023, we accept a batch application for the issue of an ECS-ID from the Academic Affairs Department. Please contact the teaching affairs department of the respective faculty or graduate school.

Issuer

1. Students

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Research students, auditing students and non-degree students
  • Special auditing students, special research students, etc.

2. Non-students

  • Part-time lecturer, JSPS Research Fellow, Professor Emeritus
  • Invited foreign scholars, foreign joint researchers and JSPS foreign postdoctoral fellows
  • Contract researchers, trainees, private sector and other joint researchers, etc.

SPS-IDOnly teaching staff who are not eligible for issuance

Duration of account usage

The period of use varies depending on the status, but in principle, eligibility ceases when you are no longer registered at Kyoto University. Your account will also be automatically suspended.For more information, please click 'Handling of ECS-ID for new academic year'.

※Please note that your ID will be automatically suspended after loss of eligibility. However, due to system operational reasons, the date of suspension may be a date after the date of loss of eligibility, so please check the suspension notice message sent to KUMOI before the loss of eligibility for the actual date of suspension.

No notification is distributed. The information required for an account is distributed via the 'prospective student website (online)'.

3. How to Use

Activation is required to use the account. Please activate your account by the deadline using the activation key provided in the 'Account (ECS-ID) Activation Notice'.

5. Graduation and retirement

If you are no longer registered by the university, e.g. due to graduation or the end of your contract period, your account will no longer be eligible for use and will be automatically suspended.

Please refer to the 'Graduation measures' section for information on how to respond in advance to the suspension of various services that use your account.

If you wish to continue using the service, please complete the 'continuation procedure' at the counter with your new ID card.
