Application Guideline of Collaborative Research Project for Young Scientists (Fiscal Year 2014 Additional Offer)

Overview

Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, Kyoto University (ACCMS) calls for proposals of the Collaborative Research Project for young scientists. This annual project is intended to encourage young researchers (including students) under the age of 40. The Project Screening Committee will examine whether or not submitted proposals meet the eligibility requirements and select about ten proposals. ACCMS bears part or entire system usage fee. Awarded researchers are required to submit a research report by the end of the fiscal year, to acknowledge the use of the system when publishing the achievements in papers, and to contribute an article on research results to our Center News (Inter-University Services Version).

Eligibility

  • An applicant must be eligible for use of the supercomputer system in the fiscal year 2014.
  • An applicant must be under the age of 40 as of April 1, 2014.

Conditions and Requirements

  • ACCMS will bear the entire usage fee of the personal course (Type A, B, C, D, E or G), or part (100,000 yen) of usage fees of the group course when services are provided for its applicant only.
  • Adopted researchers are required to:
    • Submit a User Report of the Collaborative Research Project by the end of April, 2015.
    • Contribute an article of about four pages (A4 size) on the project achievements to the Inter-University Services Bulletin.
  • Please make sure to include the use of this project in the acknowledgment of academic journals or other publications, and to send us the list of document information at the time of publishing the achievements.

Selection Criteria

The project committee is looking forward to receiving proposals having an academic impact on achievements and relating to software development that helps to improve the performance and use efficiency of the system by the use of the supercomputer system. System usage status data, achievements obtained in adopted projects may be used for the screening committee's future reference.
