Fixed Type Terminals for General Education

PCIn the Educational Computer System, personal computer (PC) terminals have been installed at 4 locations at the University, such as the Open Space Laboratory (OSL) and the satellite classrooms of some faculty.

Use of Physical Terminals

PC termials of educational computer system will be completely redesigned from the 2023 academic year.

Physical terminals for education are to be changed to be located in the following four locations. In addition, the basic software (OS) will be changed to Windows 11.   • Faculty of Medicine:Faculty of Medicine Center for Anatomical Studies 2F Laboratory
  • Media Center South building:1F ICT commons, 2F 203・204 Seminar room, 3F 303 Seminar room
  • Kyoto University Library:3F Information terminals area(OSL)
  • Yoshida South Library:2F Reading room(OSL)

The basic software (OS) on these PC terminals is Windows 11 and the application software that can be used includes Microsoft 365 Office and other software such as that used during classes. Note, the access to the Office Store (Microsoft AppSource ) from each satellite/OSL is restricted. Please be aware that viewing and editing of documents, including add-ons other than those for which applications have been submitted in advance (MATLAB, etc.), may be partially restricted on each PC terminal for educational use. The files belonging to each user are stored in a file server installed at the University or in a cloud service, and can be used at the other PC terminals via the network. It is not possible for users to access a file belonging to a different user unless the file has special settings applied.
