Procedure for the use of PC Terminal services (for Faculty)

Introduction

If you would like to use a virtual terminal (VDI) in the class, you need to fill out and submit the application form provided to all faculty members in advance. Please check the list of class software. If you wish to use software not listed on the list, you will need to fill out an application form to apply.

Please refer to the following documents for the procedure to use PC terminal service.

1.Receive an e-mail about the application form.

Institute for Information Management and Communication(IIMC) will notify you when the PC terminal service application has been accepted.
Please check the email you received via your department's academic affairs office.
If you don't receive any notification when the time comes, please contact your department's academic affairs office or use the "Inquiries" form on the IIMC website.

2.Filling in the application form.

Please fill out the application form that will be sent to all faculty members in advance.

The application procedure is via a web form. Please refer to the list of installed software(Limited on-Campus) .

PC terminal has the special environment initialized by rebooting etc. For the installation of software, manager has to carry out the special installation and basically it can't be installed by individual. Please be sure to make an application for that. Also, the installed software of the educational computer system is only for the class. There is the restriction of capacity. Please refrain from installing the unnecessary software.

3.Sending the application form.

Application period

Applications form are accepted twice a year as follows.

<Note the following>

  • If you exceed the application period, the software will be installed in the next semester, so please be sure to send in your application within the application period.
  • Even if you used this service last year, you will need to send us an application for use every semester.

Sending destination

Please send the application form in one of the following ways.

  • Mail: edu-soft * mail2.adm.kyoto-u.ac.jp (Change * to an at-sign)
  • Campus mail: ACCMS South Bldg 1F Media management team for education

4.Checking the movement.

When the PC terminal environment is ready, the IIMC will send you an e-mail about an announcement for the completion of preparation.

You can check the movement to make sure if there's no trouble in using VDI at class from the website for checking the movement.
Please use your SPS-ID or ECS-ID to log in.

* The above checking the movement period can be subject to change depending on system conditions.

5.Preparation before use VDI.

You will need to do the following by the previous day of the class. Please refer to the manual to prepare.

(*1) The user's registration of VDI will be carried out automatically linked to the information of KULASIS. Please be sure to tell students to register the course in KULASIS by the previous day of the class via syllabus etc in advance.

6.VDI Use for class.

In class, both students and faculty log in via PandA with a web browser and use the VDI.

How to connect to VDI

  1. Log in to PandA(https://panda.ecs.kyoto-u.ac.jp/).
  2. Connect to the course site.
  3. Click [VDI] link.
  4. Click [(私の)予約] from the list on the left.
  5. Click [接続] of the subject you are going to use.
  6. Enter your password.
  7. The VDI's desktop is displayed.
