Gemini, Google's generative AI, is available to users who sign in with a Kyoto University account (*@kyoto-u.ac.jp) provided by the Institute for Information Management and Communication (IIMC).

To help you make the most of these AI tools, we have published a Gemini User Guide. We encourage you to explore the guide and use Gemini to support your teaching, research, and administrative work.

AI Tools Available

Below is an introduction to several AI tools available through Gemini.

Gemini App

The Gemini app helps streamline a wide range of academic and administrative tasks, including drafting documents, composing emails, preparing presentation materials, organizing and analyzing data, and much more. It can help faculty and staff improve productivity and work more efficiently.

NotebookLM

NotebookLM helps you work with your own documents by understanding their contents and assisting with tasks such as summarization, question answering, and information extraction. It is particularly useful for organizing large collections of documents and quickly locating the information you need.

Deep Research

(Please refer to the User Guide below for instructions on how to use this feature.)

Deep Research is an advanced AI research assistant that conducts multi-step web research and generates comprehensive reports based on the information it gathers and analyzes. It can be used for a wide range of research activities, including literature reviews, market research, and investigations into the latest technologies.

Please note: As of July 29, 2025, the use of Deep Research is limited to 10 reports per user every 30 days. Please use this feature accordingly.

When using any of these AI tools, be sure you are signed in with your Kyoto University Google account (@kyoto-u.ac.jp*).If you are signed in with a personal Google account instead of your University account, information you enter may be used to improve Google's AI models.
