Virtual Terminal Service
In addition to using the PC terminal service from the PC terminals installed in the OSLs and satellite classrooms, it is also possible to use the VDI-PC terminal service (Windows 11 and/or Linux) via the network, such as from anywhere in the University or at home. It is possible to use the service for purposes such as classes in normal classrooms, self-instruction at home and preparations for classes in laboratories at the University.
NOTE: To use this service in class, the permission of the system administrator is required. Please see Procedure for the use of PC Terminal services to apply the use of virtual terminal service.
Use of Virtual Terminals
Each terminal in the educational computer system have been redesigned since the 2023 academic year.
For virtual terminals, the basic software (OS) has been changed to Windows 11 and Ubuntu 22.04(LTS), and the deployment of available software has also been changed. For details, please refer to the '【Limited on-Campus】Request and Availability of Software for Classes' pages.
NOTE: To use this service at off-campus situation (including KUINS II), you need to use our VPN connection service like IKEv2. Please see the detailed information.
NOTE: We will be lifted restrictions on VPNs to connect to the VDI for a while. If you want to use VDI, please use it without a VPN connection.
Note, the access to the Office Store (Microsoft AppSource) from the virtual terminal is restricted. Please be aware that viewing and editing of documents, including add-ons other than those for which applications have been submitted in advance (MATLAB, etc.), may be partially restricted on each terminal.

The usage
After logging in PandA, click on VDI link on the menu of your course site for class. The daily maintenance in PandA is performed from 4am to 6am.
Use for Class
You can use the virtual terminal for class from 60 minutes before class start time to 60 minutes after class end time. Please see How to Use the PC Terminal Service - General-Purpose Virtual Terminals.
Self study outside class
For use outside class hours, please make a reservation through the PandA course site for this course. For more details, please see "How to Use the PC Terminal Service - General-Purpose Virtual Terminals.
Use of Instructor/TA
If you are a teacher or TA who has already applied for a course terminal, you can use the virtual terminal for course preparation from 8am to 0am every day.
Use of part-time instructors
If you are using ECS-ID as a non-student, you cannot use Windows OS with VDI due to licensing restrictions. However, we will make it available for part-time instructors who teach classes, so if you are a part-time instructor, please let us know using the inquiry form.
