Due to changes in Google Workspace specifications, a feature allowing users to delete their own Gemini chat history is being progressively rolled out starting June 21, 2026.
Please note that this feature is not deployed to all accounts simultaneously, so it may take some time before it becomes available to you. There may also be a time lag between when individual chat deletion becomes available and when bulk deletion becomes available. Thank you for your understanding.

■How to Delete Chat History
(To delete individual chats) 
1. In the menu on the left side of the screen, click the "More (three vertical dots)" icon next to the chat title you want to delete, and select "Delete".

2. In the "Delete chat?" dialog box, select "Delete".

(To delete chats in bulk)
1. Select the "Settings" icon in the menu on the left side of the screen, and select "Activity".


2. Select "Delete", then choose the time period you want to delete from the "Delete activity" dialog box, and proceed with the deletion.


As users are now able to delete their own history, the retention period for Gemini chat history  in Google Workspace for Faculty/Staff and Students will be extended to 36 months, effective Wednesday, July 1, 2026(Currently, it is set to 18 months for faculty/staff and 3 months for students).

Along with this change, we would also like to inform you that the previously announced "Changes to the Gemini Chat History Retention Period" to shorten the retention period on the same day has been cancelled.
