We has been licensing the use of Microsoft365 (Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise), a software service consisting of Office software, mainly Word and Excel, to students since March 2023 and to faculty and staff since July 2023. The license has been granted to faculty and staff. The add-in for Office can extend its function. But due to security concerns that the expanded functionality may cause, we has been restricting the use of add-ins, and has been investigating the impact of opening the use of add-ins. As a result of these investigations, we determined to open the the add-in function from September 2023.

With the opening of add-ins, individual users can access the Office Store and obtain add-ins (for example, in Word, the "Mendeley Cite" bibliography citation add-in is available).

However, the availability of an add-in does not mean that Kyoto University or Microsoft guarantees the security of the add-in. Some of the add-ins are available for a fee, but the cost of such add-ins must be borne by the individual who wishes to use them.Users should understand the conditions of use and risks of each add-in and decide whether or not to use it at their own discretion.
