Changes to Oracle Java Licensing

To KU faculty and staff,
As we informed you on August 21, 2019, Oracle Java SE was only available under a paid support agreement after February 1, 2019, except for personal use. On September 28, 2021, however, Oracle announced that starting with Java 17, the company will make its versions of JDK and all quarterly updates available for free, including for commercial and production use.
See Oracle's blog post and press release for more details. Note that versions prior to Oracle JDK 17 are not affected by this change. Also, this notice is not meant to promote the use of Oracle JDK 17 or later.
