We are scheduled to replace a current supercomputer system as described below.
Initially, we were scheduled to start service of the new supercomputer system in October 2022, however, the schedule has been delayed due to the global shortage of semiconductors.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We are currently working on the service to be launched between October and December 2022. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.

(1) Configuration of the New System

The new system is expected to consist of three types of systems based on the concept of a current system, a new system equipped with GPU as an accelerator, and a large-capacity storage system.

Camphor3 (New system A): Successor to the current Camphor2
Laurel3 (New system B): Successor to the current Laurel2
Cinnamon3 (New system C): Successor to the current Cinnamon2
Gardenia (New system G): New system equipped with GPU as an accelerator
Storage: Large capacity storage of 44 PByte

(2) Installation Schedule

As a result of the procurement of the new system, the system will be delivered in two stages: the first configuration and the last configuration.
The first configuration does not include system A and 4 PByte of the new storage system, which will be configured with SSD.

We are working hard to start the operation of the first configuration from October to December 2022, however since the delivery schedule of the equipment has been delayed, it is difficult to provide a definite date for the system installation at this time.
We hope for your kind understanding that it will be difficult to start the service in October in this situation.

We expect to install the last configuration, system A in June 2023 or later.
Due to the situation where the system size will be reduced and we will not be able to provide enough services until the new system A is installed, we would like to ask you to consider the use of supercomputers operated by other centers if needed.

(3) Usage Fees

Electricity prices have been rising since last year, and this has had a significant impact on the operating costs of the supercomputer. The price is expected to increase by 50% to 70% or more compared to the previous year.
Therefore, we expect that the usage fee for the new system will have to increase as well.

We are preparing to announce the usage fees by the end of July; however, we ask for your understanding that the situation is strongly affected by the rising cost of electricity.
