【Limited on-Campus】【Groupware for Faculty and Staff (Google Workspace)】 Use of Google Maps

publication date : Apr. 8, 2021

Dear Faculty and Staff

Due to concerns about the Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy that apply to the additional service "Google Maps" of Google Workspace for Education, the service has been disabled in the faculty groupware (Google Workspace) since its introduction.

Up until a few days ago, you could use Google Maps without being logged in if you accessed Google Maps with a browser logged in with your faculty/staff account (SPS-ID). However, probably due to a change in Google's specifications, as of 4/8/2021, you will receive a message "You do not have access to Google Maps. Please ask your organization's administrator to grant you access. Please ask your organization's administrator to grant you access."

This is a phenomenon that corresponds to "3 You are trying to access Google apps that are restricted at Kyoto University. "in the "Portal Site FAQ : When I try to open Gmail, Google Drive, Forms, or other files, I'm redirected to a "You need permission" page." You can use Google Maps by switching to your personal Google account, or by opening your browser in InPrivate mode of Microsoft Edge or in incognito mode of Google Chrome.
