Call for collaborate research project for FY 2018 Joint Usage/Research Center for Interdisciplinary Large-scale Information Infrastructures (JHPCN)

The Joint Usage/Research Center for Interdisciplinary Large-scale Information Infrastructures (JHPCN) calls for joint research projects for fiscal year 2018. JHPCN is a "Network-Type" Joint Usage/Research Center, certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and comprises eight super-computer equipped centers affiliated with Hokkaido University, Tohoku University, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Nagoya University, Kyoto University, Osaka University and Kyushu University, among which Information Technology Center at the University of Tokyo is functioning as the core institution of JHPCN.Each JHPCN member institution will provide its research resources for joint research projects.

Researchers of an adopted joint research project can use provided research resources within granted amount with free of charge.In addition, expenses for publication or presentation of research results such as overseas travel expenses may be supported.

The available research resources are computers, storages, visualization systems and so on. Some of them can be connected to facilities inside and outside of JHPCN member institutions via high speed networks for the purposes of exchange, accumulation and processing of data. It is also possible to connect research resources of JHPCN member institutions with SINET5 L2VPN.Part of High Performance Computing Infrastructure (HPCI) system, referred to as the HPCI-JHPCN system, are also available for joint research projects.

December 13 (Wed) Start of the application
2018 January 9 (Tue)17:00 Deadline for the application (registration on the web)
January 15 (Mon)17:00 Deadline of submitting the printed application forms
Up to mid- March Announcement of awarding results
April 1 (Sun) Start of the collaborate research project
2019 March 31 (Sun) End of the collaborate research project
