Kyoto University Integrated Network System (KUINS)

KUINS(Kyoto University Integrated information Network System) is the all-university computer network in Kyoto University.KUINS network covers the main part in Kyoto University such as Yoshida campus, Uji campus, Katsura campus and remote place(Kumatori, Sennan gun in Osaka or Inuyama,Aichi).It is connected to off=campus as well via SINET4(network for academic research in Japan:managed by NII).

KUINS has KUINS-II,which consists of global IP address,and KUINS-III. KUINS-II will be used for the server to connect to off-campus directly and KUINS-III will be used for the personal PC not to communicate directly.

KUINS network carries out the securty measure introducing Firewall,unauthorized access monitoring equipment, Virus check server,SPAM mail check server, and transmitting mail server with authentication by SMTP-AUTH. For network management, we maintain from basic router, basic switch to Information socket in the room of each facilities on-campus and MIAKO net, access point of wireless LAN. Also, we manage applications of sub domain, Acceptance & Issuance & Management of VLAN application and the management of VPN connection service.
