Virtual Terminal Service

In addition to using the PC terminal service from the PC terminals installed in the OSLs and satellite classrooms, it is also possible to use the PC terminal service (Windows 10 and/or Linux) via the network, such as from anywhere in the University or at home. It is possible to use the service for purposes such as classes in normal classrooms, self-instruction at home and preparations for classes in laboratories at the University.

NOTE: To use this service, the permission of your instructor or the system administrator is required. Please see how to apply the use of software for class (limited access internally) to apply the use of virtual terminal service.

NOTE: To use this service at off-campus situation (including KUINS II), you need to use our VPN connection service like IKEv2. Please see the detailed information.

The usage

After logging in PandA, click on VDI link on the menu of your course site for class.The daily maintenance is performed from 4am to 6am.

Use for Class

You can use the virtual terminal for class from 60 minutes before class start time to 60 minutes after class end time. Please see How to Use the PC Terminal Service - General-Purpose Virtual Terminals.

Self study outside class

You can use the virtual terminal for class from 60 minutes before class start time to 60 minutes after class end time. On other times, you need to make reservation from the course site on PandA. Please see "How to Use the PC Terminal Service - General-Purpose Virtual Terminals.

Use of Instructor/TA

You can use the virtual terminal for preparation from 5am to 2am every day.

Frequently Asked Questions

"Different characters are displayed when I type keyboard"

After connecting the virtual terminal, choose the language settings by clicking the icon on left of the window.

"I'd like to transfer my files between my local PC and the virtual terminal"

After connecting the virtual terminal, use "Shared Drive" function by clicking the icon on top of the window. Or, you can useCloud Storage.

"I'd like to share clipboard between my local PC and the virtual terminal"

After connecting the virtual terminal, use "Clipboard" function by clicking on the icon displayed on top of the window.

"I'd like to use my local printer connected to my local PC"

Please choose "HyPrint PDF Printer" in printing.

"After logging in, I cannot resume using the virtual terminal from the locked screen on which the current date and time is shown"

Type "Enter" key to enter your password. When it doesn't work, swape the screen from the bottom to the top by mouse to enter your password. Or, ask the IIMC support center from the IIMC home page.

"I cannot find the VDI link in the menu of my course site"

To use this service, the permission of your instructor or the system administrator is required. The system administrator will add the VDI link on your course site based on your application.

"Who should take care of adding participants into my course site on PandA and VDI?"

The participants in your class will be automatically registered based on the course and roster information sent from KULASIS. The registration of Teaching Assistant on to PandA is able to perform by yourself as instructor. Please see the detail in page 5 of PandA Official Guidebook. The registration of TA is done by the system administrator. Please send the request to edu-soft@mail2.adm.kyoto-u.ac.jp.
