History of the IIMC

ACCMS / IIMCIMCD
FY2001

Budget request (FY2002) was submitted for the establishment of ACCMS1 through integration of the University's Data Processing Center, Center for Information and Multimedia Studies and KUINS.

Budget request (FY2002) was submitted for the post of Departmental Manager for Department of Information Project Design.

Apr,2002

ACCMS was established. (5 research departments, 8 laboratories)

Department of Informational Planning was established in the Administration Bureau. (1 department, 2 divisions)

Apr,2003

Consideration was begun about the position of the University Centers after the incorporation of the University at the Meeting of Institution of Research and Educational Infrastructure.

Under Deans and Directors Meeting, Working group was established for development of campus-wide service infrastructure.

Nov,2003

Working group submitted status report to Deans and Directors Meeting.

Frequent discussions between ACCMS and Department of Informational Planning on concept for Institute for Information Management and Communication

Special Committee for Development of Campus-Wide Services was established in Committee for Conceptual Development of Campus-Wide Services

Mar,2004

Special Committee for Development of Campus-Wide Services was established in Committee for Conceptual Development of Campus-Wide Services.

Committee for Conceptual Development of Campus-Wide Services submitted status report to Deans and Directors Meeting.

Apr,2004

Deliberation was commenced on establishment of Institute for Information Management and Communication.

Task Force on Institute for Information Management and Communication, Kyoto University

Review of administrative structure in response to incorporation of Kyoto University

  • Department of Informational Planning renamed to Information Management and Communication Department
  • University Information Division transferred to General Affairs Department (Administration Bureau) (1 department, 1 division)
Dec,2004

Establishment of Institute for Information Management and Communication was approved by University Deans and Directors.

Work was begun on restructuring of Information Management and Communication Department.

Mar,2005

Establishment of Institute for Information Management and Communication and 4 other service organizations (individual areas listed below) were approved by Council on Education and Research

  • Occupational health, safety and environmental management
  • International innovation
  • Promotion of international relations
  • Library services

Report on administrative restructuring was submitted at Deans and Directors Meeting.

Apr,2005

Institute for Information Management and Communication commences operations

Administration department in ACCMS1 was integrated and IT Services Division was established. (1 department, 2 divisions, 2 offices)

Apr,2006

Information System Management Center was established in response to reorganization of the head administrative structure based on the outline of administrative reorganization.

Apr,2009

The Integrated Authentication Center was established within Information Environment Managing Department in the adminstrative office.

Jan,2011

Structure reinforcement of 3 vice directors of IIMC from 2 vice directors. ( In charge of research environment, education environment, IT governance )

Apr,2011

IT Planning Office was established in response to the reality of IIMC.

IIMC Board Meeting was established.

Review of the head administrative structure in response to the administrative reorganization.

  • Information Environment Managing Department was renamed to Information Management Department.
  • Information System Management Center was closed down and was integrated into Information Security Management Office.
May,2011

The Integrated Authentication Center in Information Management Department was transferred to IIMC.

Apr,2012

ICT Strategy Committee was established as the whole university committee.

Jul,2013

ICT Basic Strategy in Kyoto University was determined at the Board of Executive Directors.

Apr,2014

IT Planning Office was reorganized into 5 divisions.

Operation Committees were reorganized.

The Integrated Authentication Center was closed down and ICT Support Center was established.

Reorganization of the structure in response to that of IIMC structure (1 department, 3 divisions)
