Outline of the IIMC

The Institute for Information Management and Communication (IIMC) was established on April 1, 2005, as one of Kyoto University's six service organizations, which also include the Kyoto University International Innovation Organization(the current "Industry- Academia collaboration head-office"), the Institute for the Promotion of Excellence in Higher Education and other institutes. Primary activities of the IIMC include:

  • Planning, development, management and operation of the university-wide IT infrastructure
  • Providing a variety of user services related to the IT infrastructure
  • Developing and providing an advanced and secure information environment
  • Developing personnel capable of advanced use of information and information technologies

The IIMC, consisted of the IT planning office (faculty) and the Planning and Information Madagement Department (staff), is integrally achieving the plan, design and operation on IT services over university.
Also, the IIMC is composed of sections, such as IT infrastructure ( engaged in network, information security, integrated authentication), the education support, research support, e-work promotion, system design, and the ICT support center which is responsible for user support of IT service.
