Outline of the IIMC

The Institute for Information Management and Communication (IIMC) was established on April 1, 2005, as one of the service organizations of Kyoto University, which also include the Kyoto University International Innovation Organization(the current "Industry-Academia Collaboration Head-office"), the Institute for the Promotion of Excellence in Higher Education and other institutes. Primary activities of the IIMC are as follows.

Center for Information Technology Infrastructure

  • Planning, development, management and operation of the university-wide IT infrastructure
  • Developing an advanced and secure information environment
  • Development and construction of educational support infrastructure with ICT

Center for Open Science and Data Management

  • Environment and system development for data operations
  • Development of computer resources and establishment of a university-wide usage environment for data-driven research
  • Support for acquisition of IT-related knowledge and skills

ICT Support Center

  • User support for university-wide IT services

The IIMC, consisting of the Center for Information Technology Infrastructure, the Center for Open Science and Data Management (with faculty members), and the Planning and Information Management Department (with administrative/technical staff), is integrally achieving the plan, design and operation on campus-wide IT services.
