ECS-ID(Accounts for Students) FAQ

Common Portal for All Studentsl site is for student only. For non-student, please log in each service.

For extension of an expiry date of your activation key, please visit the nearest ECS-ID help desk listed in the following website with your ID card issued by Kyoto University.

Please note that it takes a couple of days to proceed the application when you apply at other offices except the ECS-ID help desk at Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, South Building.

Please contact the helpdesk at Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, South Building. Then the staff may ask your personal information such as student ID number and ECS-ID (Student Account), but never ask your password.

Do not tell your password to others.

It's a risky situation. Immediately contact the ECS-ID help desk at Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, South Building.

You can apply for a new activation key to set a new password of ECS-ID at the ECS-ID help desk located in a remote campus as well.

Please visit your nearest help desk with your ID card or enrollment certification issued by the director of your department.

If you are staying in a remote place, you can also apply by post with a copy of your ID card or enrollment certification issued by the director of your department and an application form for New activation key enclosed.

Note that an application by phone or email is not accepted.

For faculty and staff, SPS-ID will be provided from your department office so that your ECS-ID will not be available in the end of June. Please make a backup copy of the necessary storage file and transfer the data from your Student Email account (KUMOI) to a new email account for faculty and staff (KUMail) as soon as you receive your SPS-ID.

Yes, but you need to update the registration information of your present ECS-ID. For update, please visit the ECS-ID help desk at Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, South Building with your new ID card or enrollment certification issued by the director of your department.

Yes, you can keep your present ECS-ID and the password.

In April, you will receive an ECS-ID notification from your department on which the same ECS-ID and its activation key are printed. Unless you forget the password, you don't have to activate it again. In case that a different ECS-ID is printed on the notification, please visit the ECS-ID help desk at Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, South Building with your new ID card issued by Kyoto University.

Except for students, renewal procedre is required every academic year.
We will notify by email to your Student Mail account (KUMOI) one month before your ECS-ID stops.

For renewal, please visit ICT Support Center or the ECS-ID help desk with application form and your updated ID card or enrollment certification issued by the director of your department before your ECS-ID expires. Please note that renewal procedure is not completed in that day if you visit the ECS-ID help desk except for ICT Support Center.

Your ECS-ID will be automatically deauthorized after you leave Kyoto University. We will notify by email to your Student Email account (KUMOI) before your ECS-ID stops.

You can change your password on this site. You can also set email forwarding from your Student Email (KUMOI) to your regular email.

It is not necessary to activate it again as long as you remember the password. But if you don't remember it, you can set a new password by activation.

And also, please set email forwarding of Student E-mail (KUMOI) to your regular email address as well. You can set email forwarding on the same URL as for activation.

Alphanumeric characters (at least 8 characters, 16 characters or less) can be used for password. But you should not use the character strings broken easily such as date of birth, phone number, name, word in dictionaries and so on.

Please visit the helpdesk at Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, South Building with your Authentication IC card and apply for an ECS-ID containing university e-mail account (KUMOI). After activating your ECS-ID with an activation key provided at the helpdesk, you can set e-mail forwarding from KUMail to KUMOI.

Your SPS-ID(Faculty and Staff Account) and Authentication IC card are only for the use of financial accounting system. If you would like to use e-mail provided by Kyoto University, please visit the help desk at Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, South Building with your ID card issued by Kyoto University or JSPS and apply for an ECS-ID (Student Account) containing Student email account.

Regardless of regular or non-degree, ECS-ID (Student Account) and Student e-mail address are provided for students.
For all students entering in April and October, the ECS-ID notification is provided from the administrative office in your department.

For other students, please fill in an application form "New ECS-ID" downloadable here and bring it with your student ID paper card to the help desk shown here.

Note that application by telephone or e-mail cannot be accepted.
